Peter celebrated his 80th birthday (11/03/08) on 27 March 2008 at the iconic "Woodchoppers Inn", Mudgeeraba.

More than 70 people attended the event, among them several prominent local identities including the Mayor of the Gold Coast City Council Ron Clarke and his wife Helen as well as the local MP Dianne Reilly.

The party was clandestinely organised by a group of friends and Peter received various certificates in appreciation of his community contributions.
